Description
Glutathione is a tripeptide of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine, joined unusually: the bond between glutamate and cysteine is a γ-linkage through the glutamate side chain rather than a standard α-peptide bond, which is what makes the molecule resistant to ordinary peptidases.
Widely used in laboratory work as a reducing agent, a buffer component, and a substrate in enzyme assays including glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase systems. Supplied in the reduced (GSH) free-acid form; the oxidized dimer GSSG is a separate material.
Practical note: reduced glutathione oxidizes on exposure to air, so working solutions should be prepared fresh and thiol content verified if the assay depends on it. No human data is presented, referenced, or implied.
Supplied strictly for laboratory research use only. Not a drug, food, cosmetic, or medical device. Not for human or animal consumption, and not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Purchase confirms the buyer is a qualified researcher and accepts sole responsibility for lawful handling, storage, and disposal under all applicable regulations.
